Structural
Balance
Chiropractors have found that if
there is pressure along the spine, irritating and interfering with
the nerve, it will cause pain. It is highly probable that it will
affect muscles, joints, blood vessels, and even organs. The
chiropractor relates various levels of the spinal column to various
organs and conditions. For example, if tenderness is found at the
base of your skull, it may be related to headaches, sinus problems,
or to your jaw. Lower down the neck may be found displacements that
relate to problems of pain and numbness in your shoulder, arm, or
hands. People suffering from chest and stomach problems may have a
displacement of the bones between the shoulder blade affecting those
organs. Lower back and leg symptoms are often associated with
problems with the intestines, bladder and prostate, because of the
same nerve supply.
Applied Kinesiology
Dr. Christine Audette employs a
technique called Applied Kinesiology, which is a form of muscle
examination used to aid in the arrival of a correct diagnosis.
During the 1960’s this new system of evaluation began to develop in
chiropractic. Dr. George Goodheart found that evaluation of normal
and abnormal body function could be accomplished by using muscle
tests. These tests give the doctor added ability to evaluate
function of the nervous system, which controls organs, glands, and
other tissues. This information is combined with other diagnostic
findings to enhance the examination.
Nutrition
Your chiropractor can help guide you
to good health by doing more than adjusting your spine. Chiropractic
colleges teach in-depth courses in nutrition which will allow your
doctor to advise you on a healthy diet plan. To be able to function
over a long period of time, you should eat as close to nature as
possible. Avoid smoking, alcohol, as well as caffeine and carbonated
drinks. Also, try not to eat a lot of spicy, greasy or fried foods.
One of the keys to longevity is to not overeat. At the Audette
Chiropractic Clinic, you examination is augmented with Applied
Kinesiology by evaluating how you body responds to particular
nutritional substances and chemicals. This adds a functional
evaluation that takes into consideration the biochemical
individuality of people.
Meridian Therapy
The ancient Chinese developed a
system of treating disease and maintaining health that balances the
energy in what are called meridians. In modern times, acupuncture -
or more accurately "meridian therapy" - has proven a valid method of
treatment. Dr. Goodheart et al. have provided some of the first
advancements in this treatment in the Western world. By using
applied kinesiology techniques, the flow of energy in the meridians
can be evaluated and corrected if off-balance. Correction can be
made by many methods of stimulation, such as electrical, needles,
small tape patches with metal balls, or simply by touching certain
spots. You will note an immediate improvement in muscle function
after meridian balancing.
Cranial Bone Movement
Until fairly recently it was thought
that the skull was a solid mass primarily protecting the brain. In
reality, there is minute movement of a predictable nature between
the bones that is necessary for normal function of the nerves and
spinal fluid. Spinal fluid surrounds the brain and spinal cord,
providing nutrition, lubrication, and hormone movement. A bump on
the head can jam the bones of the skull, causing abnormal or no
movement. Improper nerve function may result that can cause problems
in many organs or structures of the body. Dysfunction of the skull
is called a cranial fault. If one is found, a specific gentle
pressure is applied, allowing for an immediate improvement of a
previously poor muscle test.
Neuro-Emotional Technique
Our emotional reality can
dramatically affect our health. Emotions such as fear, anger, grief,
and many others can negatively affect us long after the original
event that caused them. When our body fails to "let go" of these
emotions, we can find ourselves with unexplained aversions, self
sabotaging behaviors, destructive beliefs, phobias, and many chronic
physical problems. The Audette Chiropractic Clinic uses an approach
called Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) to identify and help you let
go of "stuck" emotional patterns. Just as Pavlov's dog linked the
sound of a bell with being fed, events and situations in our life
can be linked to emotions and feelings. Locating and resolving these
emotional snapshots from the past does not take the place of
counseling, analysis, or other types of therapy. Actually, many
psychotherapists use NET in their practice. Rest assured that we
make appropriate referrals as necessary.
